There’s the old saying “you are what you eat”. I think it goes way deeper than that. In fact, you are what you think. Your thoughts are a form of eating and a way of feeding your mind. Being tied up in your mind leads to all kinds of problems in terms of health whether it stomach ulcers, migraines, inability to digest food, or inability to sleep well. Many times we spend hours , days, weeks, thinking and thinking about things that have past. As we continue along this path it feels like your on wheel and you cant seem to get off of. Romans 12:2 “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” Renewing of the mind is a daily exercise. Essentially, what it means is to look at life through a different lens. For example, many times you may feel like you are being punished for something in your past and constantly paying a price. If you shift the thought from punishment to purpose it will ultimately allow the opportunity for some self-reflection. What is this particular situation teaching me about me?? What am I not seeing in it’s proper perspective? Is it pride, jealousy, judgment,?? Understanding that once you change how you see, only then change can occur. That is the miracle putting off who you were and becoming who you are supposed/meant to be. When all road stop ending at you (selfishness) then you can start to contribute to help others. Easy task, not at all and its always easier to point the finger at someone else than it is to point it at you. How can we collectively change as a people if we haven’t cleaned out our own houses? What conditions do you have that my be a reflection of what’s happening in your heart? When God instructs us to put on the full armor, the helmet (protect your mind), the breastplate (guard you heart) and the sword (his word) are meant to protect us. We are being told to put all of this on so that our minds don’t make us sick in our bodies. Unnecessary illness is the worst kind……just a thought…..
